This talk will discuss the need to assess the number and type of MRI incidents that occur. Currently there is no way to correctly detect MRI incident types or trends across MRI sites. Without accurate statistics on adverse MRI events there is no reliable data to assess MRI safety. Development of a universal MRI incident reporting template is recommended to enable reporting MRI incidents consistently and appropriately.
Development of a national programme of online MRI safety training by the UK multi-professional MRI working group will also be described. The programme is free to all NHS staff and academic institutions and available for a very small fee to all others.
